For protein coding genes, mutation and natural selection play a different role compared to the rRNA genes. We studied homologous genes and their encoded proteins in two flowering plants: Oryza sativa and Arabidopsis thaliana. The GC content of the rice genes is more heterogeneous than their Arabidopsis homologs. High GC rice genes encode proteins having a high frequency of amino acids encoded by GC-rich codons, low GC rice genes and Arabidopsis genes encode proteins having a high frequency of amino acids encoded by AT-rich codons. We performed qualitative LC-MS\/MS-based experiments on mitochondria proteins by means of both gel-based and gel-free approaches, showing an over 4-fold increase in protein identifications by the latter. The lines A3N 213, A3N 193, and MR 750 A2 were found to be good general combiners for fodder yield and quality traits. To compare the effect separately for each cytoplasm (A1, A2 & A3) on per se performance, heterosis and combining ability, data was also analysed in three factor split-split plot design. Several good crosses involving non milo cytoplasm based lines, highlighted the worthiness of use of non milo cytoplasm for hybrid development in forage sorghum. Since CD2 has been shown to interact with CD48 in cis and trans configuration, I asked whether this interaction could be responsible for the differential behavior of CD48 and CD59. For this purpose I used the siRNA technology and down regulated CD2 and CD48 expression in Jurkat T cells. The knock- out cells showed altered recruitment of Lck, a Src family kinase (SFK) member, and LAT, a transmembrane adaptor protein (TRAP), to the TCR\/CD3, decreased IL-2 promoter activity and decreased calcium flux as compared with the normal cells.
