The spaceflight platform provides a unique environment where researchers can explore fundamental questions into cellular and molecular response mechanisms to unveil novel insight into human health and disease. , Since the physical force of gravity has shaped the architecture of all biological systems on our planet, spaceflight provides the opportunity to see life in a new adaptational mode - in response to reduced gravity. This enables investigations into the effects of the microgravity environment and associated changes in mechanical forces on mammalian cells\/tissues and microbial pathogens, to bring novel insight into disease mechanisms, which are not discernable using conventional experimental approaches. Research using spaceflight platforms represents a paradigm shift in how we observe life processes and is on the leading edge of research discoveries into cellular and molecular mechanisms of health and disease. By incorporating the views of leading authors, ,this book highlights landmark discoveries and advances in mammalian cellular and microbiology research in both true spaceflight and ground-based spaceflight analogue environments for scientists and students alike who are interested in the influence of physical forces on mammalian and microbial cells, how this impacts ,transition ,between normal homeostasis and disease, and basic mechanisms of adaptation to low gravity environments. , ,To provide a thorough understanding of this research, this book covers a range of topics including: (i) , description the physical forces interacting with cells in microgravity and microgravity analogue environments, (ii) , how alterations in these cellular forces impact human physiology, specifically immune function, (iii) , use of these environments to develop organotypic three-dimensional (3-D) tissue culture models as predictive human surrogates for organogenesis and disease research, and (iv) , microbial pathogen responses to culture in these environments, focusing on infectious disease , Collectively, this information reflects a critical step in preparation for long-duration human space exploration, advances our knowledge of basic biological processes and mechanisms important to understand normal function and disease, and may lead to new strategies for treatment and prevention. ,","merchants_number":2,"ean":9781493932764,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":168,"low_price_merchant_id":70255345,"ID":4908626,"merchants":["euniverse","dodax"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"effect-of-spaceflight-and-spaceflight-analogue-culture-on-human-and-microbial-cells","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/effect-of-spaceflight-and-spaceflight-analogue-culture-on-human-and-microbial-cells\/","low_price_merchant_name":"eUniverse"}

Today, more than ever, companies need to innovate to survive. But successful innovation--measured in dollars and cents--is a very hard target to hit.Companies obsess over being creative and innovative and spend significant time and expense in designing and building products, yet struggle to monetize them: 72% of innovations fail to meet their financial targets--or fail entirely. Many companies have come to accept that a high failure rate, and the billions of dollars lost annually, is just the cost of doing business.Monetizing Innovations argues that this is tragic, wasteful, and wrong.Radically improving the odds that your innovation will succeed is just a matter of removing the guesswork. That happens when you put customer demand and willingness to pay in the driver seat--when you design the product around the price. It's a new paradigm, and that opens the door to true game change: You can stop hoping to monetize, and start knowing that you will.The authors at Simon Kucher know what they're talking about. As the world's premier pricing and monetization consulting services company, with 800 professionals in 30 cities around the globe, they have helped clients ranging from massive pharmaceuticals to fast-growing startups find success. In Monetizing Innovation, they distil the lessons of thirty years and over 10,000 projects into a practical, nine-step approach. Whether you are a CEO, executive leadership, or part of the team responsible for innovation and new product development, this book is for you, with special sections and checklist-driven summaries to make monetizing innovation part of your company's DNA. Illustrative case studies show how some of the world's best innovative companies like LinkedIn, Uber, Porsche, Optimizely, Draeger, Swarovski and big pharmaceutical companies have used principles outlined in this book.A direct challenge to the status quo \"spray and pray\" style of innovation, Monetizing Innovation presents a practical approach that can be adopted by any organization, in any industry. Most monetizing innovation failure point home. Now more than ever, companies must rethink the practices that have lost countless billions of dollars. This can be used as a guideline to save time, verify the usefulness and\/or the attainability of the desired results.Since the first appearance of the Internet to the public mass in the early 1990s, many enterprises and entrepreneurs tried to use this technology for the advantage of their own business. What was seen as a revolutionary step in business management is now a daily part of managing a business. The use of the Internet has grown significantly in a short period of time, to be more specific in numbers, the number of users from 1995 till 2011 has grown approximately from 16 million to 2.251 million users and is still growing. That is a significant growth of 14068.75%.Since then the web presentation has evolved from a simple text into a much more complex information tool. Users of the Internet are now able to communicate, interact and share information with each other. This development has opened up many opportunities for entrepreneurs. To name a few advantages: gaining new customers, generating contacts, introducing your brand and products and of course increasing your revenue and profit has become fairly easy.This kind of practice could also be defined under the term \"electronic commerce\" also known as e-commerce and e-comm. To define it more correctly, the term e-commerce is the buying and selling of products, services and information over electronic systems such as the Internet.Even though this very useful information tool is available to us, the Internet doesn't always mean success and profit gains. On the contrary, introducing your company brand, services and or products in an improper and unprofessional way could lead to reputation loss, which also can lead to revenue and profit loss. Sometimes it can even lead into losing your most loyal customers. Furthermore the rivalry between businesses on the Internet is so immense that if your brand is not introduced correctly, visitors may prefer your rivals. Just to name a few bad e-commerce examples: citydeli.com, rzent.co.nr, arngren.net, and lingscars.com.","merchants_number":1,"ean":9783668069688,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":17.39999999999999857891452847979962825775146484375,"low_price_merchant_id":70255345,"ID":4852223,"merchants":["euniverse"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"e-commerce-critical-risk-factors-and-key-factors-for-success","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/e-commerce-critical-risk-factors-and-key-factors-for-success\/","low_price_merchant_name":"eUniverse"}

Understanding these issues requires incorporating findings from both the physical and social sciences at different temporal and spatial scales.The chapters in this book were written by hydrologists, remote sensing specialists, ecologists, historians, economists, political scientists, architects, archaeologists, and other experts who live in and study arid lands. The authors present updates, overviews, and analyses of water challenges these areas have faced and are striving to address, from salinization in the fabled Taklimakan Desert in China to land degradation in the northern Mediterranean to groundwater over-exploitation in the southwestern United States.The book also examines desertification, remote sensing, qanat systems, architecture, arsenic contamination, and other case studies from Iran, the Maghreb region, Argentina and Chile, and Mexico. From this conceptual mosaic of comparative perspectives and research methods emerges a strong assumption: an interdisciplinary approach that combines physical and social sciences is the first step toward globally and comprehensively addressing water and sustainability.\"This book is a valuable and welcome contribution to the discussion of water and sustainable development. Through the collection of chapters, the book clearly illustrates the contemporary diversity of approaches to water scarcity and presents pertinent and new research findings that readers generally do not find compiled together. The result is a highly relevant, accessible, and timely resource that is unique in its international and interdisciplinary content. Now, based on new research conducted with leaders, change makers and culture shifters, she's showing us how to put those ideas into practice so we can step up and lead. Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas, and developing that potential. This is a book for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead. When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability. We don't avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into the vulnerability that's necessary to do good work. But daring leadership in a culture that's defined by scarcity, fear and uncertainty requires building courage skills, which are uniquely human. The irony is that we're choosing not to invest in developing the hearts and minds of leaders at the same time we're scrambling to figure out what we have to offer that machines can't do better and faster. What can we do better? Empathy, connection and courage to start. Bren\u00e9 Brown spent the past two decades researching the emotions that give meaning to our lives. Over the past seven years, she found that leaders in organisations ranging from small entrepreneurial start-ups and family-owned businesses to non-profits, civic organisations and Fortune 50 companies, are asking the same questions: How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders? And, how do you embed the value of courage in your culture? Dare to Lead answers these questions and gives us actionable strategies and real examples from her new research-based, courage-building programme. Bren\u00e9 writes, 'One of the most important findings of my career is that courage can be taught, developed and measured. Courage is a collection of four skill sets supported by twenty-eight behaviours. All it requires is a commitment to doing bold work, having tough conversations and showing up with our whole hearts. Easy? No. Choosing courage over comfort is not easy. Worth it? Always. We want to be brave with our lives and work. It's why we're here.'","merchants_number":2,"ean":9781785042140,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":27.89999999999999857891452847979962825775146484375,"low_price_merchant_id":27291482,"ID":4421764,"merchants":["weltbild","orell-fuessli"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"dare-to-lead","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/dare-to-lead\/","low_price_merchant_name":"Weltbild"}

The global financial recession, which followed, highlighted a gloomy rate of interdependence in the banking world. It exposed the tight interconnection of the American real estate market and the structures of the global financial market (Panagopoulos et al. 2009, 2-4).In December 2010, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision published the report ''Basel III: A Global Regulatory Framework for More Resilient Banks and BankingSystems'' which will be implemented gradually across the European Union (among others) between 2013 and 2019 and supplements the existing International Convergence of Capital Measurement Document (Basel II) which was implementedin 2008 (Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, 2013).The reformed capital and liquidity requirements for banks, Basel III, is a response to the global financial crisis and represents a substantial step forward from its predecessor regime, Basel II which already based credit costs on the degree of risk. One of the most significant outcomes of Basel III will be the enormous rise in the banking industry's capital requirements and the rise in lending as well as borrowing costs (Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, 2013).Real estate developers heavily depend on debt capital for their projects and partake usually only with a small amount of equity capital in a project. If the access to bank loans will be limited or restricted in the future, developers will have to adapt their financingmodel to the new market conditions and challenges posed by Basel III and take other financing alternatives into consideration in order to decrease dependence on bank loans (Drucker, 2012).Other financing alternatives might also gain attraction if senior loans become more restricted or the securities or the equity required by the bank increase so much that the return on investment of real estate developers will make investments unprofitable or they might not able to provide these securities. They might not know how to proceed and restructure their financing model adapting it to a lower amount of senior debt. The increased loan documentation due to Basel III might take so long that the developer will not be able to realize the project viably anymore due to fast changingmarket conditions (Drucker, 2012).","merchants_number":2,"ean":9783656697060,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":42.89999999999999857891452847979962825775146484375,"low_price_merchant_id":70255345,"ID":4586720,"merchants":["euniverse","weltbild"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"consequences-of-selected-basel-iii-regulations-for-real-estate-developers","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/consequences-of-selected-basel-iii-regulations-for-real-estate-developers\/","low_price_merchant_name":"eUniverse"}
