Accurate detection of such similarities could reveal evolutionary relationships and predict the functions of different proteins. Despite the existing algorithms, the protein structure alignment problem is not completely solved. In this work a graph-theoretic approach is considered, which consists of representing tertiary protein structures as labeled graphs, and interpreting the structural alignment problem as a particular case of the Maximum Common Subgraph (MCS) problem. Our algorithm was then implemented under parallel platforms using a combination of threads and message passing techniques. Experiments were performed on a set of proteins selected randomly from the Protein Data Bank. The experiments proved the time- efficiency and accuracy of our method when compared to several other algorithms.","merchants_number":1,"ean":9783639279368,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":47.39999999999999857891452847979962825775146484375,"low_price_merchant_id":1087639,"ID":4813589,"merchants":["dodax"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"structural-alignment-a-graph-theoretic-approach","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/structural-alignment-a-graph-theoretic-approach\/","low_price_merchant_name":null}

Because of lack of endogenous phytase enzyme, which hydrolyzes phytic acid, phosphorus, calcium, protein and other bound nutrients are biologically less available to poultry. Microbial phytase has great nutritional significance and ecological importance. Poultry diets supplemented with microbial phytase result in improved growth performance and increased digestibility and availability of phytate bound phosphors, calcium, zinc and copper. Microbial phytase supplementation has also been shown to increase ileal digestibility of crude protein and amino acids. The efficacy of supplemental microbial phytase depends on its rate of inclusion, dietary calcium and phosphorus ratio, vitamin D3, nature of diet, and age and genotype of birds. Thus, microbial phytase is an efficient tool to exploit the inherent nutritional potential of feedstuffs for economic and eco-friendly poultry production.","merchants_number":1,"ean":9783330350564,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":51.2000000000000028421709430404007434844970703125,"low_price_merchant_id":1087639,"ID":4488632,"merchants":["dodax"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"phytase-supplementation-in-poultry","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/phytase-supplementation-in-poultry\/","low_price_merchant_name":null}

Local Patterns in Biological Sequences presents three different algorithms that make use of this wealth of information: CYRCA, HexDiff, and PreCUSA. CYRCA was designed to detect weak sequence similarity between protein families using conserved protein sequence patterns and graph theory. HexDiff used frequencies of DNA patterns to detect a specific type of regulatory sequence called cis-regulatory modules. The third approach, drawing on the ideas explored in CYRCA and HexDiff, used structural attributes predicted from DNA sequence as an alternative source of information for detecting regulatory sequences in the genome. The common theme for these three algorithms is extracting local features from long biological sequences and utilizing them to predict large-scale sequence properties.","merchants_number":1,"ean":9783639101614,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":69.900000000000005684341886080801486968994140625,"low_price_merchant_id":70254503,"ID":4767288,"merchants":["orell-fuessli"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"local-patterns-in-biological-sequences","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/local-patterns-in-biological-sequences\/","low_price_merchant_name":"Orell F\u00fcssli"}

Facing the sea of proteins, the multiple sample preparation is the critical bottleneck which limits the power and speed of proteomics discovery. It is urgently calling for automatic, high throughput, and multiplexed protein processing platform. This book, therefore, introduces a state of the art of microfluidic technology for high-throughput proteomics. The functional nanoporous structures were created in microfluidic scale to form a new generation of multiple protein processing platform, including the preparatory (i.e., separation) and biological functions (i.e., enzymatic digestion). Such lithographically defined polymer materials possess the scaling-up capability for parallel, high-throughput protein processing. The strategy developed here should shed light on the advanced proteomics and glycomics, and should be especially useful to the exciting field of biomarker discovery, or anyone else who may be considering utilizing biotechnology for rapid, and ultra-low sample assay.","merchants_number":1,"ean":9783844380286,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":60.60000000000000142108547152020037174224853515625,"low_price_merchant_id":1087639,"ID":4314767,"merchants":["dodax"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"high-throughput-microfluidic-proteomics","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/high-throughput-microfluidic-proteomics\/","low_price_merchant_name":null}

In the present study, the mechanism and regulation of confluence-dependent nuclear location of RS1 was investigated. Nuclear location of RS1 was found to be regulated by the cell cycle. A nuclear shuttling signal (NS) in pRS1 was identified that mediates translocation of RS1 into and out of the nucleus via importin \u00df1 and CRM1, respectively. The adjacent protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation site was shown to control nuclear localization driven by NS during confluence. According to the proposed model, in subconfluent cells, RS1 is actively imported into the nucleus whereas nuclear export of RS1 is not active. After confluence, phosphorylation of serine 370 of pRS1 by PKC takes place leading to enhancement of RS1 nuclear export and predominantly cytoplasmic distribution of the protein. Gene expression profiling of mouse embryonic fibroblasts with RS1-\/- genotype suggests that transcriptional regulation by RS1 might be important for the cell cycle and cell division. Thus, RS1 might play a role in the regulation of the solute carriers during specific phases of the cell cycle.","merchants_number":1,"ean":9783838111612,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":59.5499999999999971578290569595992565155029296875,"low_price_merchant_id":1087639,"ID":4256630,"merchants":["dodax"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"nuclear-cytoplasmic-translocation-of-the-transporter-regulator-rs1","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/nuclear-cytoplasmic-translocation-of-the-transporter-regulator-rs1\/","low_price_merchant_name":null}

Improving crops quality requires an attention to the biochemical process of its development and knowledge of the machinery involved in this development. The protein synthesis machinery involves both organelles which determine storage proteins quality during endosperm development. The rate of reserve material accumulation varies during the grain filling stages.The constitutive proteins of the ER and GC are speculated to undergo changes in function, and a temporal change in protein expression during these stages assumed to be related to wheat protein quality. Results proved that BML proteases application delayed the onset of tumorigenesis and reduced the cumulative number of tumors, tumor volume and the average number of tumor cells. To establish a cause and effect relationship, we targeted the proteins involved in the cell death pathway. BML proteases treatment resulted in regulation of p53 gene and subsequent activation of caspase 3 and caspase 9 with concomitant decrease in anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 in cancer cells. BML treatment attenuated phosphorylation of extracellular signal regulated protein kinase (ERK1\/2) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). Taken together, we conclude that BML induces apoptosis related proteins by blocking the MAPK kinase signaling in tumor cells, which may account for its anti-tumorigenic effects.","merchants_number":1,"ean":9783659459870,"category_id":103,"size":null,"min_price":66.099999999999994315658113919198513031005859375,"low_price_merchant_id":1087639,"ID":4616618,"merchants":["dodax"],"brand":"undefined","slug":"anti-tumorigenic-activity-of-bml-proteases-on-cancerous-tumor-cells","url":"\/unterhaltung\/produkt\/anti-tumorigenic-activity-of-bml-proteases-on-cancerous-tumor-cells\/","low_price_merchant_name":null}

Protein crystal contacts are weak and generally form only under conditions designed to limit protein solubility and maximize protein-2 interactions. However, they do form with a kind of specificity, at least in the sense that only certain contacts are repeated within each unit cell of any particular crystal packing arrangement. For oligomeric proteins, amino acids at the subunit interfaces have been selected in order to maintain affinity and specificity properties. Many proteins contain highly flexible or even completely unfolded fragments that dramatically interfere with crystallization conditions. These conditions are the crystal lattice and Oligomeric interface or proteins that allow the residues to bind in such a specific way by which the crystallization of GTPase is fast. A structure based drug design study was performed on VEGFR-2 inhibitors based on the article \"Hetaryl imidazoles: A novel dual inhibitors of VEGF receptors 1 and 2\". The target protein was retrieved from the Protein Data Bank (I.D. 2OH4), based on the Ramachandran plot. The structures of reported inhibitors were obtained in 3-D format using standard software packages. These 3-D analogues were docked to the protein of choice using Molegro Virtual Docker.
