A photo album: snapshots from bygone days. This was the way that students, colleagues and friends of Karl Weierstrass (1815 - 1897) wanted to thank and congratulate him on his 70th birthday.For the present volume, this historical photo album showing over 340 faces has been reproduced. The text part of the volume is a remarkable historical documentation including - Biographical data about Karl Weierstrass, introducing also the mathematicians involved in organizing the birthday celebration- Story and background of the album - List of people portrayed in the album - Letters from Weierstrass and others, in order to give some of the atmosphere of those days and to let the perfomers of 1885 speak for themselves. Karl Weierstrass (1815-1897) gehört zu den führenden Mathematikerpersönlichkeiten des vorigen Jahrhunderts, der entscheidend das heutige Erscheinungsbild der Analysis geprägt hat.
