Vinton, California

Vinton is an unincorporated community in Plumas County, California. It lies at an elevation of 4,947 feet (1,508 m). Vinton is located 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Chilcoot. For census purposes, Vinton is included in the census-designated place (CDP) of Vinton-Vinton. The Vinton post office opened in 1897. The name honors Vinton Bowen, daughter of a Sierra Valley Railway official. Plumas County is a county located in the Sierra Nevada of the U.S. state of California. The county gets its name from the Spanish words for the Feather River (Río de las Plumas), which flows through the county.
