The role of animal protein in food security in the context of climate

Climate change is caused by human and natural factors. Man's activities are agricultural practices involving the slash and burn methods of soil exploitation, bush fires, deforestation, and construction of infrastructures such as houses. These activities over the years have contributed to continuous degradation of the environment and the emission of CO2 in the atmosphere. These changes in climate have an impact on ecosystems, food security and are a challenge for societies especially those that depend on natural resources (IPCC, 2007). Climate change has impacts on livelihood, health and ecosystems. This is because rural communities have agriculture as their main economic base and when it fails due to drought, livelihood becomes unbearable (Sonwa et al, 2009, Agrawal and Perin, 2008).
