Collaborations sur la scène post-politique 1969?1980 L?ouvrage est consacré aux artistes qui ont vécu et collaboré à Düsseldorf dans les années 1970, contribuant activement au programme historique de la Kunsthalle. « Singular / Plural » jette par ce biais un regard neuf sur la différenciation des arts à la fin de l?après-guerre et les impulsions subculturelles dans l?espace germanophone et européen. Le groupe informel à orientation cosmopolite a élaboré ses stratégies en tenant compte et en se détachant clairement de la persistance du fascisme allemand. C?est avec les procédés artistiques les plus divers ? peinture, photographie, projections de diapositives, performances, films ou musique ? que cette scène post-pop-politique a analysé en profondeur des thématiques politiques telles que l?histoire coloniale, les économies ou la question du genre. Les travaux ? et l?autre matériel documentaire, notamment des bandes dessinées, des ?uvres éphémères ou des disques ? ne sont pas présentés en ordre chronologique dans l?exposition; mais labyrinthique, à l?image des collaborations processuelles et des débats entre les artistes dans les années 1970. Les objets exposés éveillent des résonances avec des configurations d?intérêts contemporaines en affichant leur conscience d?une mission politique et leur auto-ironie. Le groupement informel d?artistes de Düsseldorf a produit des modèles de vie alternatifs et s?est intéressé à la remise en question et à la dissolution de la qualité d?auteur au singulier. La Kunsthalle était la scène centrale où se déroulaient leurs activités, c?est pourquoi les références à des expositions historiques dominent dans ce volume pour l?exposition anniversaire des ans de la nouvelle construction de la Kunsthalle Düsseldorf. Auf diesem Weg wirft »Singular | Plural« einen frischen Blick auf die Ausdifferenzierung der Künste der späteren Nachkriegszeit sowie auf subkulturelle Impulse im deutschsprachigen sowie europäischen Raum. Die kosmopolitisch orientierte und lose organisierte Gruppe entwickelte ihre Strategien in Auseinandersetzung mit und in Abgrenzung vom Nachleben des deutschen Faschismus. Durch unterschiedlichste künstlerische Verfahren ? Malerei, Fotogra?e; Diaprojektionen, Performances, Film oder Musik ? wurden in dieser Post-Pop-Polit-Arena politische Themenkomplexe wie Kolonialgeschichten, Ökonomien oder Gender eingehend untersucht. Werke ? und zudem dokumentarisches Material, Comics, Ephemera oder Schallplatten ? werden in dieser Ausstellung nicht chronologisch, sondern ebenso labyrinthisch präsentiert, wie die prozessualen Kollaborationen und Debatten der Künstlerinnen und Künstler in den 1970er Jahren verliefen. Sie bilden Resonanzen mit gegenwärtigen Interessen, wenn sie politisches Sendungsbewusstsein und Selbstironie zur Schau stellen. Der lose Düsseldorfer Künstler- und Künstlerinnenverbund erprobte alternative Lebensmodelle und war daran interessiert, singuläre Autorschaft zu befragen und aufzulösen. Die Kunsthalle fungierte als zentrale Bühne für diese Aktivitäten, und Referenzen auf historische Ausstellungen bestimmen diesen Band der Jubiläumsausstellung zum 50-jährigen Bestehen des Neubaus der Kunsthalle Düsseldorf. Art in Düsseldorf in the 1970s« is ­dedicated to artists who lived and worked ­together in Düsseldorf during the 1970s, and who ­actively influ­enced the his­torical program of Kunsthalle Düsseldorf. The loosely yet cosmopolitically ­orient-ed group develop­ed its strategies in the context of, and against the legacy of, German fascism. Through ­various artistic processes ? painting, photography, slide projec­tions, performances, film, and music ? political themes such as colonial history, economics and gender were thoroughly examined in this post-pop political arena. Works and further documentary ­material, includ­ing comics, ephemera, and records, are presented in this exhibition, not chronologically, but rather in the same labyrinthine way as the processual collaborations and debates of the ­artists during the 1970s. The exhibits ­generate resonances with current interest constellations when they display political conscientiousness and ­humorous ­self-depre­cation. The loose Düsseldorf artist group tried out life models and was interested in challeng­ing and suspending singular authorship. Kunsthalle Düsseldorf has served as a central stage for these activ­i­ties, which is why refer­ences to historical exhibi­tions are a defining part of this volume of the exhi­bition on the ­occasion of the 50th ­anniversary of its new build-ing. Accordingly, »Singular / ­Plural« casts a fresh look at the differentiation of the arts of the later post-war period, as well as on subcul­tural impulses in German-speaking and European countries.
