Talmon (1916?1980) who taught many years until his death the history of \u00bbtotalitarian democracy\u00ab at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, became the most influential interpretation of the history of ideas. His findings were groundbreaking for the reconstruction of intellectual history in totalitarian ideology in the 20th century. In the first two volumes Talmon concentrates on the genealogy of the left wing totalitarism whereas the third discusses the right and left wing totalitarism. Only the first two volumes were published in German and have long been out of print. They are now newly published replenished by an academic approach.
