Development of Modern Analytical Methods from Umbelliferous fruits

The plants of Umbelliferae family are used as a spice for their distinctive flavour and aroma, and also as carminative, laxative and digestant. Many Ayurvedic and Unani formulations contain these plants as ingredients. Detailed Pharmacognostical works have been reported, but their systemic chemo-profiling and estimation methods for their chemical markers are not reported. The present study is designed to provide chemo-profiling of volatile oils of Umbelliferous fruits and also a validated HPTLC-densitometric method for estimation of their biomarkers.
