Determination of Municipal Water Quality in Addis Ababa

Provisions of safe water, sanitation and hygiene services are vital for the development of human health. However, lack of proper waste management and sewerage system, poorly designed pit latrines and leaking septic tanks affect the quality of municipal water in a city. Moreover, population expansion and investment development create shortage of water supply and aggravates the pollution rate in the city.Thus, evaluation of municipal water quality was conducted in each sub-cities of Addis Ababa. This book, therefore, provides information on the microbial as well as physico-chemical water quality of Addis Ababa. Some of the basic analytical methods were used for analysis of the selected parameters. The analysis result would primarily be beneficial for the people of Addis Ababa as it provides information on its level of pollution, for Addis Ababa water and sewerage Authority, for various organizations that are working on municipal water quality and water related diseases.
