Cymbopogon citratus the lemongrass is a perennial grass plant widely distributed worldwide and most especially in tropical and subtropical countries. It is native to India and the nearby island of Sri Lanka. It is found growing naturally in tropical grasslands. It is also extensively cultivated throughout tropical Asia. Essential oil is one of the important components of lemon grass extracts.
